As a common laboratory equipment, a vacuum drying oven is primarily used for drying experimental sample rapidly. The working chamber can maintain a certain vacuum degree and can be filled with inert gas during the working of a vacuum drying oven, which is suitable for drying heat-sensitive, easily decomposed and easily oxidized materials. Even some materials with complex compositions can be dried quickly. Generally, a vacuum drying oven is equipped with an intelligent digital temperature regulator for temperature setting, display and control.

Applications of a Vacuum Drying Oven

Before using a vacuum drying oven, its applications must be learned firstly in order to use it more properly and much safer. A vacuum drying oven can be used in a great variety of fields, such as chemical engineering, biochemical, pharmaceutical, medical care and public health, agricultural scientific research, environmental protection and other research areas. It is applicable for powder drying, baking, as well as the disinfection and sterilization of various glass containers. In practical, it is suitable for rapid and efficient drying treatment of heat-sensitive, easily decomposed, easily oxidized materials and complex components. It can not only lower drying temperature, but also prevent some materials from oxidizing in contact with air.

How to Use a Vacuum Drying Oven?

When using a vacuum drying oven, it should be placed in the room with good ventilation and no violent shaking. And the inflammable and explosive objects should be kept away from it. The following is the guide to use a vacuum drying oven appropriately.

Put materials that need dry on the trays inside the drying oven and push them into the drying oven. Gently close the door to avoid large vibration of the oven. With bolts on the door of the oven, make sure that the door is tightly bound to the silicone seal strip when it is closed. Then connect the vacuum pump with the vacuum valve, successively open the vacuum pump and vacuum valve, and vacuumize. Next, turn on the heating switch to set the desired temperature, which should be carried out in a stable vacuum state. Next, set the required temperature, but not exceed the rated temperature. Eventually, turn off the heating switch and then slowly open the discharge valve. Open the oven door and take out the sample when the vacuum degree is zero.

Advantages of Vacuum Drying

Compared to other drying methods, the vacuum drying possesses a great number of merits. Not only is it capable of drying and sterilizing materials simultaneously, but also can damage less active ingredients to ensure that products have a better quality. Furthermore, it can ensure a safer operation result from that it can completely eliminate the possibility of oxides exploding in heat under vacuum or inert condition. Given consideration to the above factors, it’s well recognized that vacuum drying ovens are environmentally friendly and considered as green drying equipment.
